The City of New Port Richey is committed to the preservation of our greenspace and natural amenities. Over the year, the City has been a leader in local agrarian program and environmental initiatives.
Community Gardens
The City has multiple community gardens located throughout the community. Each garden offers residents the opportunity to volunteer in their community while also providing fresh, healthy, and nutritious produce to their neighbors in need.
Currently, the community garden program is undergoing revisions through the Parks and Recreation Department. When the program guidelines are finalized, more information will be posted here.
Organic and Local Food Markets
Residents and business owners of New Port Richey are taking advantage of opportunities to grow local produce. From pop-up markets to brick-and-mortar, check out these opportunities to grab some fresh produce:
Tasty Tuesday and Second Helping Saturday
Hosted by the New Port Richey Public Library, these are the most frequently occurring pop-up produce markets in the City.

Wright’s Natural Market and Farmers’ Market
Wright’s Natural Market has been serving the New Port Richey community for more than twenty years! Their fresh produce is replenished by urban farmers in the area, and their bi-weekly farmers’ market is another avenue for local farmers to support themselves.

Brush to Mulch Program
How it works:
The Public Works Department collects yard debris throughout the City and stores it on-site at its facility. Every 6 months, a company grinds the debris into mulch that is then used in our community gardens.
Where to leave your brush:
Every resident within City limits should have a designated area on their property where they can leave the brush. Some use community piles, but that is not ideal. If a resident has questions on where to store their brush they can call public works at (727) 841-4536.
How to get mulch:
Residents may pick up mulch on their own with the assistance of fleet staff, who are available to assist in loading large quantities of mulch onto trucks and trailers with the City’s loader. Larger orders of mulch can be made over the phone by calling Public Works at (727) 841-4536. In most circumstances, Public Works staff is able to deliver these larger quantities.
Tree City, USA
The City of New Port Richey is proud to be recognized as a Tree City for the 31st consecutive year. As a Tree City, New Port Richey is committed to proper maintenance and preservation of our trees, and celebrates them through annual events.
Monarch City
The City of New Port Richey was designated a Monarch City in February 2020. Contiguous to their natural migration pattern, New Port Richey is frequented by Monarchs as they search for warmer climates in the winter months.
