The City of New Port Richey is a suburb of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater, and is considered part of the Tampa-St. Pete-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located on the west coast of Pasco County, the City has direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and Florida’s best beaches.

New Port Richey has 10 parks within its 4 square miles – three are dog-friendly, and several are nestled along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River that flows through the City. The city-owned parks contain recreational amenities, pavilions, playgrounds, trails, kayak slips, and boat launches. The Parks and Recreation Department oversees a full range of classes, leagues, and events throughout the year, in addition to operating a state of the art, 35,000 square foot recreation center with four pools, a 28-foot water slide, tennis courts, an outdoor skate park, event rooms, and a gymnasium. The City of New Port Richey offers one of the best locations for businesses and families to live, work, and play in Central Florida.

Convenient Geography

Our location provides residents and commuters access to all of Florida via several major roadways, including immediate access to State Road 54 and US Highway 19. The Suncoast Parkway, I-275, and I-75, which connects the west coast of the State, are both a short distance from the City. We are also near I-4, which connects the west and east coasts of Central Florida. Two major airports, Tampa International and St. Pete-Clearwater, are both within an hour.

Education

The City of New Port Richey is home to four Pasco County Public Schools: Richey Elementary, Gulf Middle School, Harry Schwettman Educational Center and Gulf High School. The City is an active partner in community engagement with all of the schools and is proud of the programming offered in our community.

Shopping, Dining, and Healthcare

The City is home to a vibrant downtown with a full array of dining and entertainment options. The downtown district is fast-growing and has attracted millions of dollars in investment by entrepreneurs and developers. New Port Richey is also bisected by the US Highway 19 commercial corridor, which contains retail plazas, restaurants, grocery stores, and professional services. The City is home to national chains as well as a strong local business community. It is close to several large shopping malls, world-class entertainment (Straz Theater, Amalie Arena, and Clearwater Aquarium), theme parks (Busch Gardens), sporting events (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays), and award-winning restaurants.

The City is also the home of Bay Care Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, a 150-bed facility located on a state-of-the-art, recently upgraded campus. North Bay Hospital provides access to surgical facilities and state of the art imaging technologies, inpatient and outpatient care, emergency care, and a medical arts building with primary care and specialty physicians.
