A proud Florida native, Bertell grew up in the New Port Richey community and attended public schools within the local feeder pattern, which includes Richey Elementary, Gulf Middle, and Gulf High. He is currently enrolled in the USF FUSE program at Pasco-Hernando State College, with plans to major in Mathematics Education.
Bertell serves in the mathematics department at Gulf Middle School, where he also represents the school as a union leader. His contributions extend to the school's leadership team, safety group, and community action committee, and he co-sponsors the National Junior Honor Society.
Before his election to the New Port Richey City Council in April 2024, Bertell was a dedicated city employee and a member of the New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. His experience is enhanced by professional certifications in Marketing and Communications from the National Recreation and Parks Association, as well as a Volunteer Service Award from the Florida Recreation and Parks Association.
Bertell's passion for community service includes his time as Vice-President of the New Port Richey Rotaract Organization, where he led initiatives to promote early reading literacy by providing books to children and parents. He also served as Chair of the Gulf Middle School Advisory Board and an advocate for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
A parks and rec kid, Bertell is a natural advocate for youth programming, public safety, and neighborhood revitalization. As the youngest officeholder in New Port Richey's history, he brings fresh energy and a forward-thinking vision to the City Council.
