New Port Richey FarmNet presents New Port Richey’s 2025 Monarch Butterfly Festival.  This annual celebration is possible though the support of the City of New Port Richey, sponsorship by ServePro – Team George, endorsement by the City’s Environmental Committee, and the generous hosting commitment from the New Port Richey Public Library.

Because of its commitment to restoration of Monarch-friendly habitats and broad-based efforts to further ecological regeneration, New Port Richey was awarded recognition as a Monarch City, USA, in 2019.

This year’s Monarch Festival offers a rich and varied educational program, fun and happy Monarch-themed activities for children, and a continuous showing of the awarding-winning documentary, “Monarch Butterfly Migration: A Mystery of the Natural World.”  The featured keynote speaker will be Shawn “The Milkweed Man.”  Also on the program will be representatives from environmental groups, ecological regeneration organizations, and related supporting institutions, including the Sierra Club, the New Port Richey Public Library, New Port Richey FarmNet, the New Port Richey Environmental Committee, Keep Pasco Beautiful, and others.

In furtherance of FarmNet’s Wildflower Initiative, and as a special celebration of the imperiled Monarch Butterfly, all who attend will be gifted milkweed seeds to plant from the New Port Richey Public Library’s seed library. To further support the Wildflower Initiative and offer nourishment and hospitality to Monarchs, the first 50 folks who attend will be gifted a one-gallon milkweed seedling for home planting.  Additional milkweed plants available for sale at the event.
