Precautionary Water Boil Notice

The Public Works Department for the City of New Port Richey will be performing scheduled water main maintenance on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 beginning at 8:30AM in the following areas:

Wedgewood Dr
Pinewood Dr
Oakwood Dr
Donna Dr
Dianne Dr
Brightwaters Ct
Grandview Ave
Peninsular Dr
Isthmus Dr
Morningstar Ln
Osprey ln
Avery Rd from Royal Palm to Grandview Ave

The project is expected to affect or have water service down for six hours or potentially longer depending on any unforeseen circumstances.

After the repairs are complete, the area will be under a precautionary boil order until further notice. Once consecutive samples have been taken (typically within two-three business days) and the water has passed all tests residents will be notified that the precautionary boil order has been rescinded. Please be advised that this is a precautionary boil order, and that water pressure falling below the regulated service level of 20 psi does not, in the absence of other aggravating factors, necessarily constitute an imminent health hazard, however, contaminants may enter the system due to the nature and environment of the work being done.  The City will employ all measures, including flushing lines, water testing and sampling, etc., in order to eliminate contaminants to get passing residuals per our utility standards to ensure that the water is safe for consumption.

Residents in the affected area are advised to boil all water that will be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water can be used. Boiling water is a proactive approach to ensure that all possible contaminates are eliminated until the precautionary notice has been rescinded.

The City will take all measures to minimize impact and inconvenience for residents and visitors in and around the service area.  For more information on this project, please contact Zachary Thull, Utilities Operation Manager or Dan Algie, Water Distribution Section Leader at (727) 277-0161.
