Downtown Landscaping Improvement Project

The City of New Port Richey is proud to announce that work will begin on the Downtown Landscaping Improvement Project on May 15, 2017. This project will includes removing the existing Drake Elm trees on Main Street and replacing them with Chinese Fan Palm Trees. The existing Drake Elms will be replanted along Grand Boulevard’s Railroad Right of Way to be used as shade for the newly constructed Multi-Use Path/Sidewalk area and also around the stormwater retention pond located at Main Street and Old Main Street.  Additional plans for the retention pond area also include replacing the existing galvanized fencing with black decorative railing and the planting of several types of fruit trees on the existing island north of the pond. Landscaping will also be added in all of the center islands on Main Street from the bridge to US Highway 19 in between the existing lavender Crape Myrtles, as well as the City owned parking lots in the downtown area. The project is expected to be completed by September 12, 2017.  For more information on this project, please contact Adam Jessen, Construction Inspector at (727) 841-4538 Office or (727) 243-4074 Cell.
